2026 - In a decisive and acute crackdown against narcotic drug networks,
officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU), supported by teams from the
Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) and the Operations Action Team (OAT), have
successfully disrupted two interconnected drug syndicates operating within
Karanja area, Kibra Sub-County.
Acting on credible and actionable intelligence, the
multi-agency team executed a covert operation targeting a residential house
linked to illicit drug trafficking.
Upon discreet surveillance and confirmation, the officers
identified the premises occupied by 51-year-old Ahmed Juma Wanjiru.
A meticulous search of the house uncovered a cache of
incriminating items, including 14 packages containing dry plant material
suspected to be narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The substances were neatly packed in non-woven and ziplock
bags, indicating distribution intent.
Also recovered were assorted empty ziplock bags, a whitish
digital weighing scale, a black digital scale, and cash amounting to Ksh.
31,700 in various denominations—believed to be proceeds of the illegal trade.
Additional items included an international vaccination
certificate (No. 216639) bearing the suspect’s name and a Samsung Galaxy A05
mobile phone with a safaricom-registered sim card.
The suspect was immediately arrested, and the scene was
professionally processed, with all necessary documentation completed.
He is currently in custody at a government facility pending
further legal processing, while the recovered exhibits have been securely
stored at the DCI headquarters exhibit store.
In a related operation within the same locality, detectives
zeroed in on another residence following further intelligence on ongoing
narcotics distribution.
The house, occupied by Sofia Burhan Marjan, was tactically
approached and accessed without alerting occupants.
A thorough search yielded seven packages of dry plant
material suspected to be narcotic drugs, additional quantities stored in a
greyish basin, and two more packages containing rolled substances.
Officers also recovered four weighing scales, a pair of
scissors, a rolling flag, a greenish metallic smoking pipe, and a small basin
containing assorted polythene packaging materials—tools commonly associated
with the preparation and sale of narcotics.
Notably, investigators also recovered documents including a
cash bail receipt and a charge sheet bearing the suspect’s name, accompanied by
multiple witness statements, suggesting prior involvement in criminal
proceedings.
The scene was comprehensively documented and all procedural
requirements were adhered to. The suspect was arrested and escorted to Muthaiga
Police Station, where she remains in custody awaiting further action.
The seized exhibits were transferred to the DCI Headquarters
exhibit store for safe custody and forensic analysis.
These successful back-to-back operations underscore the
DCI’s unwavering commitment to dismantle drug trafficking networks and
safeguard communities from the devastating effects of narcotics.
Members of the public are encouraged to continue sharing information that can aid in the fight against illicit drugs.
