Monday, February 16, 2026 - There was high drama at Tononoka Grounds on Sunday during the Linda Ground faction of ODM’s rally when Suna East MP, Junet Mohamed, publicly reprimanded businessman Oketch Salah for printing ODM T-shirts emblazoned with President William Ruto’s image.
Salah, who shot into the limelight shortly before Raila
Odinga’s death and controversially claimed to be the late Prime Minister’s
adopted son, has been traversing the country mobilizing grassroots support for
ODM.
But his recent stunt - youths spotted in ODM-branded shirts
featuring Ruto - raised eyebrows and sparked heated debate within the party.
The move did not sit well with ODM leaders.
Junet, the Minority Leader in Parliament, took to the stage
at Tononoka to read the riot act, warning Salah never to repeat such a move.
His stern words underscored the growing unease within ODM
ranks about loyalty and messaging at a time when the party is visibly
fractured.
Two rival factions have emerged: one led by party leader
Oburu Odinga and Chairperson Gladys Wanga, and another spearheaded by ousted
Secretary-General, Edwin Sifuna, alongside Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino.
On the same day, the factions staged parallel rallies -
Tononoka for Oburu’s camp and Kitengela for Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi faction.
The Kitengela rally drew a massive crowd, signaling the
intensity of the internal battle for ODM’s soul.
