Monday, February 2, 2026 - Residents of Kangema in Murang’a County were treated to a dramatic incident after a young man attempted a risky and unusual protest aimed at drawing attention to boychild rights.

The incident occurred in Mbari ya Gite Iyego village near Mukuyu Trading Centre, opposite the Rubis Petrol Station, where the man had reportedly planned to tie a heavy stone around his neck and endure the burden for 48 hours as part of what he described as a “challenge” to highlight the struggles facing the boychild in society.

According to locals, the man had already started preparing for the stunt when area administrators were alerted.

Mukuyu Chief, accompanied by his Assistant Chief, swiftly intervened and stopped him before he could proceed, citing serious safety concerns.
