Thursday, November 13, 2025 - Kithimani court has sentenced Josephat Mutuku Kasyema to death for viciously attacking and robbing Agnes Njeri Kilonzo, the 80-year-old mother of former Member of Parliament Charles Kilonzo.
The court heard that on 8th December
2023, Kasyema broke into the victim’s home in the Ndarani
area of Yatta Sub-County.
He allegedly robbed her of a Samsung Galaxy
J2 worth Ksh. 15,000 and cash, cut her on the head
with a panga, and tied her with ropes,
leaving her alone in the house until she was rescued later.
Judges described the attack as “so vicious and heartless”
that it left Agnes unable to speak, highlighting
the severity of the crime.
The prosecution, led by Fred Nderitu, Lydia Wang’ombe,
and James Gachoka, argued that the accused’s actions
demonstrated extreme brutality, leading the court to hand down the death
sentence.
