2025 – Controversial Nyaribari Chache MP, Zaheer Jhanda, has called on
President William Ruto to formally take over the Orange Democratic Movement
(ODM) and lead a united coalition in the 2027 General Elections.
According to Jhanda, it is time to consolidate political
forces by bringing together ODM, Ford-Kenya, UDM, KANU, and other allied
parties under Ruto’s leadership.
“For those who don’t know or should know early, the joint
UDA/ODM, Ford-K, UDM, KANU, and other coalition parties’ 2027-2032 candidate is
President Ruto,” Jhanda declared.
“It’s time for President Ruto to officially take over ODM
and lead a joint ticket.”
Jhanda also took aim at ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna,
accusing him of distorting facts and undermining party unity.
“Sifuna’s era of misrepresenting facts in ODM is over. The
party must return to truth, unity, and purpose,” he said.
Kisii Governor Simba Arati echoed similar sentiments during
Mashujaa Day celebrations, urging Ruto to return to ODM, the party he helped
found.
“If you came back to ODM, we would have you as our flag
bearer and fulfill Baba’s vision,” Arati said.
At Raila Odinga’s funeral on October 19th,
President Ruto hinted at a future partnership with ODM, vowing to protect the
party from internal divisions.
“What I will not allow, for the respect of Raila Odinga, and I will do
my best, may God help me, is to let those who want to take ODM to go and gamble
with it in the opposition to succeed,” Ruto said.
“We will either form the next Government or be part of the next Government.
That is what we can and will do,” Ruto declared.
