Tuesday, September 30, 2025 - Police in Chuka town, Tharaka Nithi County, are investigating a puzzling incident after the body of a 29-year-old man was discovered decomposing inside his personal vehicle parked within the premises of KCB Bank.

According to witnesses, a foul smell coming from the vehicle prompted authorities to break in, only to find the lifeless body of the man in an advanced state of decomposition.

Inside the car, two charcoal jikos were recovered, raising suspicion that he may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning after allegedly sleeping in the car with the jikos burning.

The body was later moved to Chuka Mortuary as investigations continue.

While preliminary reports point to a possible suicide, some residents and social media users have speculated foul play, questioning how two jikos ended up inside the locked vehicle and whether the scene might have been staged to cover up a murder.

Police have yet to release an official statement confirming the cause of death, pending postmortem results.

The incident has left locals shocked, with many calling for thorough investigations to establish whether the man’s death was self-inflicted or the result of a crime.
