Friday, September 19, 2025 - Residents of Kihoto area in Naivasha have been left counting losses after the waters of Lake Naivasha swelled, flooding homes and displacing dozens of families.
The lake, which has been gradually expanding in recent
months, burst its banks this week, submerging houses, farms and access roads.
Families were forced to evacuate, with some seeking shelter in schools and churches.
Photos from the scene paint a grim picture, homes marooned by water and children wading through flooded paths.
An X user raised the alarm, saying the residents are prone to cholera and hippo attacks.
