Friday, August 29, 2025 - A family in Mlolongo, Mulinge Phase 4, Machakos County, is pleading for help after their kin went missing under mysterious circumstances three weeks ago.
Forty-seven-year-old Nicholas Alex Otieno vanished on August
7th, 2025, shortly after leaving home for a head dressing at a
nearby clinic.
According to his wife, Marion Ndunge, Otieno had sustained
minor head injuries during a confrontation over community land ownership
between locals and unidentified goons the previous day.
“He called me hurriedly after arriving at the clinic. He
sounded distressed and hung up quickly.”
“That was the last time I heard from him.”
“Hours later, his phone went off and has remained
unreachable,” Ndunge recalled.
Otieno, a casual laborer and father of two, was actively
involved in community rights activities but, according to his wife, had no
known enemies.
The disappearance was reported at SNP and Mlolongo police
stations on August 9th.
Athi River East Sub-County Police Commander Anderson Mbae
confirmed investigations are ongoing.
“We are handling this matter with the seriousness it
deserves. Claims linking the incident to land disputes will be probed.”
“We urge the public to remain patient and share any useful
information,” Mbae stated.
He further assured residents of enhanced security, urging locals to channel land disputes through legal authorities to avoid further conflict.
