Friday, August 29, 2025 - A dramatic scene unfolded at a public function after former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala openly criticized National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula over corruption in parliament.
In a viral video, Malala - now Deputy Party Leader of the
Democratic Citizen’s Party (DCP) led by former Deputy President Rigathi
Gachagua - is seen castigating Wetang’ula before organizers abruptly switched
off his microphone.
Unfazed, Malala reached for his backup plan: his own sound
system.
Handed a microphone by his aides, he resumed his fiery
speech, sparking loud cheers from the crowd.
“I knew they would switch off the mic, so I came prepared,”
he quipped as he continued his attack.
His remarks follow President William Ruto’s recent
accusations that MPs have been soliciting bribes to pass bills in parliament.
