Friday, August 29, 2025 - Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, was left red-faced after a political tour of Tharaka Nithi County turned into an embarrassment, with only a handful of supporters showing up to welcome him.
Despite expectations of a major rally, the turnout was so
poor that observers cheekily remarked that “even a local MCA can pull a bigger crowd.”
Photos circulating online show Kalonzo addressing small,
scattered groups of people, in sharp contrast to the massive gatherings often
seen during tours by other national leaders.
The lukewarm reception has sparked conversations about
Kalonzo’s influence in the Mt. Kenya region and whether his political star is
dimming ahead of 2027.
