Thursday, August 28, 2025 - Law enforcement officers in Kiminini, Trans-Nzoia County, have arrested two prime suspects believed to be the masterminds behind a series of violent robberies that have rocked the sub-county in recent weeks.
The suspects, identified as Hillary Kirwa Chebonya and Micah Kirui, were nabbed
following a daring robbery at the busy Shikendu
trading centre along the Kitale-Webuye Highway near the
Trans-Nzoia–Bungoma border.
During the incident, a ruthless gang reportedly ambushed a boda
boda rider, robbing him of his mobile phone, Sh 6,000 in cash, and
his motorcycle.
The criminals are also said to have attacked a woman in a
nearby kiosk, before vanishing into the night.
Police immediately launched a manhunt, employing
intelligence and forensic leads to trace the suspects to their hideout.
The operation resulted in the successful arrest of Chebonya
and Kirui, who were swiftly taken to Kimimini
Police Station for interrogation and processing.
Authorities confirmed that the two are currently in custody
and will be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, efforts to track down other accomplices who remain at large have been intensified.
