Thursday, August 28, 2025 - Law enforcement officers in Kiminini, Trans-Nzoia County, have arrested two prime suspects believed to be the masterminds behind a series of violent robberies that have rocked the sub-county in recent weeks.

The suspects, identified as Hillary Kirwa Chebonya and Micah Kirui, were nabbed following a daring robbery at the busy Shikendu trading centre along the Kitale-Webuye Highway near the Trans-Nzoia–Bungoma border.

During the incident, a ruthless gang reportedly ambushed a boda boda rider, robbing him of his mobile phone, Sh 6,000 in cash, and his motorcycle.

The criminals are also said to have attacked a woman in a nearby kiosk, before vanishing into the night.

Police immediately launched a manhunt, employing intelligence and forensic leads to trace the suspects to their hideout.

The operation resulted in the successful arrest of Chebonya and Kirui, who were swiftly taken to Kimimini Police Station for interrogation and processing.

Authorities confirmed that the two are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, efforts to track down other accomplices who remain at large have been intensified.
