Thursday, August 28, 2025 - Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader, Eugene Wamalwa, has dismissed reports suggesting that he and former Public Service Cabinet Secretary, Justin Muturi, had fallen out with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In a statement posted on his official X account on Thursday,
August 28th, Wamalwa described the claims as “fake news” meant to
sow discord within the opposition.
He insisted that the coalition remains united and focused on
dislodging President William Ruto in the 2027 General Elections.
“No amount of fake news will shake the unity, resolve, and
focus of TEAM #WANTAM to beat TEAM #TUTAM both in the coming by-elections and
general elections!”
“The die is cast!” Wamalwa wrote.
The clarification follows a widely circulated post alleging
that Wamalwa and Muturi clashed with Gachagua over the regional positioning of
political parties.
The post claimed that the two leaders accused Gachagua of
fronting candidates from his Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) in regions
where their parties already enjoyed strong support.
According to the post, Gachagua dismissed their concerns,
arguing that strong parties should not fear competition.
Wamalwa’s statement comes just days after Gachagua
reiterated his commitment to working with other opposition leaders to block
Ruto’s re-election.
Addressing residents of Kanyuambora in Mbeere, Embu County,
Gachagua accused the President of attempting to regain public trust by dishing
out money.
He urged residents to accept the money but resist repaying
it with votes, accusing Ruto of betrayal by dismissing Muturi from the Cabinet.
