Wednesday, August 27, 2025 - Jamaincan dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel has set Kenyan social media buzzing after appearing in a viral video wearing a customized red jersey emblazoned with a Kenyan emblem.
In the clip, the Jamaican hitmaker delivers his verse on the
remix of Ghanaian artiste Shatta Wale’s African Crown, sparking praise
from Kenyan fans who celebrated him for repping the ‘motherland’.
Speculation is now rife that by donning the Kenyan jersey,
Kartel was subtly hinting at a possible Nairobi concert and intentionally
building anticipation among his Kenyan fanbase.
This wouldn’t be the first time Kartel, born Adidja Azim
Palmer, has shown affection for Kenya.
During a TikTok Live earlier this year, he declared his
readiness to perform in Nairobi:
“Tell the promoters Kartel is ready to come home!” Asked
about a date, he simply replied: “2025.”
The jersey moment coincides with Kartel’s comeback Worl’
Boss Tour - his first international tour in over two decades - following
his release from prison.
With more than 25 stops across the U.S, Europe, and the
Caribbean, most shows have sold out.
Kartel has continued to big up Kenya, recently telling fans:
“Big up Kenya man, remember I’m a Kenyan and a Jamaican. One Kenya, you hear
that!”
His words, paired with the viral jersey, have only
heightened anticipation that Nairobi could soon join his tour calendar.
