Wednesday, August 27, 2025 - The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has uncovered a criminal network of individuals posing as its officers within the South Nyanza region.
In a coordinated operation, EACC investigators conducted
simultaneous searches targeting seven suspects.
The raids led to the recovery of fake EACC job cards,
letterheads, stamps, and other fraudulent documents allegedly used to extort
unsuspecting members of the public.
Investigations reveal that the group’s leader, Ezekiel Kereu Nyakweba, is a repeat
offender who had previously been convicted of impersonation.
The suspects have since been escorted to the EACC South Nyanza Regional Office for
interrogation and statement recording.
Forensic analysis of the seized items is ongoing, after
which relevant charges will be preferred.
The anti-graft body has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals purporting to be EACC officers.
