Wednesday, June 18, 2025 - A 22-year-old man was arrested last night by officers from Kamukunji Police Station on suspicion of involvement in terror-related activities after exhibiting evasive and erratic behaviour during a routine patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:20 p.m. when the
suspect’s conduct caused suspicion among the patrolling officers.
Upon stopping and questioning him, the officers conducted a
search of a bag he was carrying.
The
search yielded alarming items including, 21 detonators, 21 packets of a
white substance believed to be ammonium nitrate, a five-metre-long electric
cable and other items commonly associated with explosive devices.
The suspect was promptly arrested and taken into custody.
He was later transferred to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit
(ATPU) for further interrogation and forensic examination of the recovered
materials.
In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS)
commended the officers for their vigilance and reiterated its commitment to
ensuring national security.
The public was also urged to remain alert and report any
suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies.
