RUTO to meet former President BARACK OBAMA in WHITE HOUSE in a trip that cost Kenyan taxpayers more than Sh 1 billion


Thursday, May 23, 2024 - President William Ruto is expected to meet former US President Barack Obama during his visit to the White House on Thursday.

The meeting will come ahead of the official state reception by President Joe Biden at the White House.

Obama who was the 44th President of the United States was born of a Kenyan father.

On Wednesday, President Ruto visited the White House in an initial meeting where he was received by President Joe Biden.

During the visit, Biden hosted Ruto for a roundtable on technology as they also engaged on other bilateral and multilateral issues of concern.

Ruto and First Lady Mama Rachel later on laid a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery in the United States.

The wreath is to honour the sacrifices of American Soldiers as well as historic figures in the US, such as Thurgood Marshall and John F. Kennedy who had a profound impact on Kenya's history.

In their Thursday meeting, Biden and Ruto, together with their delegations will further engage in Kenya-US economic, health, and security partnership
