GACHAGUA breaks silence after NDINDI NYORO was endorsed to succeed RUTO in 2032

Tuesday, January 16, 2024 - Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has spoken after a section of Mt Kenya leaders endorsed Kiharu legislator, Ndindi Nyoro, as President William Ruto’s successor when his tenure ends in 2032.

Last weekend, over 15 Members of Parliament from the region allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party threw their weight behind Nyoro to take over from Ruto

However, speaking in Bomet on Monday, Gachagua slammed Kenya Kwanza leaders for promoting 2032 succession politics.

Gachagua wondered why leaders were interested in succeeding Ruto, yet he was barely two years in office.

"Those who want to succeed President William Ruto should continue, but we want him to succeed.

"But I am asking youthful people: William Ruto was elected recently. He has nine years to go. You are talking about succeeding him.

"You young people, what's the problem?" DP Gachagua posed.

Speaking in Bomet County during the burial of Senator Hillary Sigei's father, Gachagua said it was disrespectful to talk about succession politics nine years before the election.

"The president has just been elected, and people are already talking about succeeding him in 2032; that is so disrespectful.

"Someone has not yet settled down, and you are talking about succeeding him; who said you will be alive after the next nine years?" he added.
