Naivasha residents living in fear over stray hippos - They are roaming freely in residential estates (VIDEO)

Monday, October 12, 2026 - Residents of Naivasha are living in fear following reports of stray hippos roaming freely in residential estates, raising concerns over the safety of people in the affected areas.

A video shared online shows a hippo wandering through a residential estate at night, with residents worried about what could happen if someone accidentally comes face-to-face with the huge animal.

Hippos may appear slow and harmless, but they are highly territorial and can be extremely dangerous, particularly when they feel threatened or are encountered unexpectedly.

Residents are now calling on the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to intervene urgently and find a lasting solution to the problem before someone gets injured or loses their life.
