Tension in United Opposition as UHURU’s man blasts GACHAGUA for ‘disrespecting’ Opposition Leaders – “You will lead us to two term”

Sunday, September 13, 2026 - Jubilee Party deputy leader Jeremiah Kioni has launched a scathing attack on Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of micromanaging the opposition and showing disrespect for fellow United Opposition leaders.

Speaking in Ndaragwa Constituency, Nyandarua County, Kioni faulted Gachagua’s remarks against former coalition spokesperson Mukhisa Kituyi, who quit after claiming the team lacked capacity to form a secretariat for the 2027 elections.

Gachagua had dismissed Kituyi’s concerns, insisting the opposition did not need a secretariat and alleging it would be infiltrated by “moles” from Jubilee.

However, Kioni described the claims as baseless.

“To claim that you are unable to form a secretariat because there are moles within the Jubilee Party, that is hitting rock bottom.

“It is simply appalling… So, does he intend to label Dr. Kituyi a mole?” he posed.

He argued that Gachagua’s accusations amounted to an attack on Jubilee’s preferred presidential candidate, Fred Matiang’i, who sits in the secretariat.

 “This fellow… has disrespected us for long. He claimed they failed to form a secretariat because of moles within Jubilee.

“Now, listen to this; the person sitting on that secretariat is Fred Matiang’i.

“Therefore, he is effectively insulting our presidential candidate,” Kioni said.

Kioni further warned that Gachagua’s conduct risked fracturing the coalition.

“This guy is incredibly disrespectful… I want to tell Kenyans that the person who will break up the united opposition is this very man,” he declared.

Adding, “That is the path leading us back to two-term.

Kioni reaffirmed Jubilee’s resolve to back Matiang’i’s 2027 bid, hinting the party could campaign independently if coalition tensions persist.
