Thursday, June 18, 2026 - Disgraced former NTV presenter, Salim Swaleh, has explained the circumstances surrounding a tearful video in which he apologised to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
The video emerged when Swaleh, who was the Director of Press
Service in Mudavadi’s team, became entangled in controversy following his
arrest in connection with a fraud case and was subsequently fired.
He revealed that the video was recorded privately in August
2024 during his legal troubles over alleged fraud involving Ksh 5.8 million and
was leaked after being shared with only a few individuals.
“One month later, I saw the video online.”
“My children were deeply affected; they went to school and
were told, ‘We saw your father crying,’…” he said.
In the emotional recording, Swaleh admitted breaking
Mudavadi’s trust and sought forgiveness.
He explained that after failing to reach the Prime CS
through other channels, he decided to record a heartfelt message from his
bedroom after a gloomy day in court.
“I needed to speak to Musalia directly. It was very
difficult,” he recalled.
Swaleh stressed that the video was intended as a private apology, not a public spectacle.
