2026 - A man suspected of criminal activity was lynched by an angry mob in
Kisumu County after being forcibly removed from a hospital where he had been
receiving treatment, in a disturbing case of mob justice.
The incident occurred in Kabanyo/Kanyagwal Ward at Nyangande
Market, where residents had initially apprehended the suspect and accused him
of engaging in criminal acts in the area.
According to reports, the crowd severely assaulted him
before police officers intervened, rescued him, and took him to a nearby
hospital for medical care.
However, tensions escalated when the same group of residents
regrouped and stormed the medical facility.
The crowd is said to have overwhelmed the officers guarding
the suspect, forcing their way into the ward where he was admitted.
The situation turned violent as the attackers reportedly
removed his medical drips and bandages before dragging him out of the hospital.
The suspect was then beaten again and succumbed to his
injuries during the attack.
After the incident, the rowdy mob returned the body to the
hospital, where it was later moved to the morgue as authorities began
investigations into the killing.
Police have since launched inquiries into the incident,
including how the crowd managed to overpower officers and breach the hospital
to carry out the fatal assault.
