“I Told My Mother I Am Not Your Husband” - Gen Z radio presenter opens up on cutting off close family members over black tax (VIDEO)

Thursday, April 2, 2026 - A Gen Z radio presenter working at a local station is trending online after revealing that he cut off several close family members, including his own mother, over persistent financial demands, commonly referred to as “black tax.”

Speaking in a viral video, the young presenter claimed that his mother frequently asked him for money at the end of every month despite having a stable job and being financially independent.

According to him, the situation escalated after his mother discovered that he earns a monthly salary of Ksh 120,000.

She reportedly felt that he was earning enough and began pushing him to take on additional responsibilities, including educating his younger brother.

Frustrated by the growing pressure, the presenter said he decided to confront the situation head-on.

“I told my mother I am not your husband,” he stated unapologetically.

He further revealed that it was not just his mother placing financial demands on him.

Other relatives, including his aunt, brother and uncle, were also allegedly taking advantage of him, forcing him to cut them off.
