Pastor KANYARI reveals why his children are still living with stepdad, TASH, after BETTY BAYO’s death - "I’m not a coward"

Monday, December 22, 2025 - Pastor Victor Kanyari has addressed persistent questions about why his two children have not yet moved in with him following the death of their mother and his former wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo.

Since Betty’s passing in November, Kanyari has faced intense public scrutiny, with many Kenyans questioning why Sky Victor and Dani Victor continue to live with their stepfather, Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash.

Kanyari insists that the situation is more complex than online debates suggest.

While the children are not living with him full-time, he maintains that he remains actively involved in their lives, often spending time with them, taking them out, and offering emotional support as they process the loss of their mother.

As pressure mounted, some members of Betty’s family encouraged him to take the children in, fueling speculation about delays.

Rumors even suggested that Kanyari was hesitant due to alleged political ambitions.

Speaking during a recent church service, he firmly dismissed those claims:

“There are people saying I have not taken my children because I want a political seat. I do not want any seat. Do not elect me. I do not want it.”

He also pushed back against critics who labeled him a coward.

“My children are here in Kiambu. How can I be a coward when I know exactly where they are? If I wanted to take them, who would stop me? They are my children.”

In the wake of Betty’s death, Kanyari also bragged about acquiring a lavish mansion in Runda worth over Ksh 90 million, where he said his children would live.

Yesterday, I was in Runda looking for a house to buy. I went with some people from my church, and the house we looked at was valued at 90 million shillings.”

“I told the people with me that this is the house we will buy,” Kanyari said.

“It even has a swimming pool… This is where my children will live and enjoy themselves, swimming and spending time there,” he declared.
