2025 - Siaya Governor, James Orengo, has dismissed rumours surrounding his
health following recent absence from the public.
Speaking during an interview with a local television
station, Orengo insisted that he was in good health and had spent time visiting
friends in India while attending to personal matters.
“I am well, but I was in India, in New Delhi, where I spent
some time with friends. I then went to Hyderabad, where I also have a number of
friends who live there,” he explained.
The Governor noted that his trips to India were not unusual,
as he has previously travelled there for both personal visits and medical
examinations.
He recalled that years ago, while visiting Chennai, a friend
encouraged him to explore Hyderabad, describing it as a modern and rapidly
developing city.
Addressing the speculation directly, Orengo confirmed that
he underwent routine medical check-ups during his stay, something he said he
regularly does in different Indian cities including Chennai, New Delhi and
Mumbai.
“While there, I went for medical check-ups, which I normally
do.”
“I have gone to Chennai, New Delhi and Bombay before, and it
was just that,” he said.
Orengo added that he deliberately chose not to respond to
rumours while away, preferring instead to return and let the public judge his
health for themselves.
“I thought instead of answering rumours, I should just
present myself so that people can make up their own minds,” he concluded.
