Nairobi, October 8, 2025 - The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested and arraigned Liza Amara Anyoso, a former Registry Clerk at the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC), for allegedly using a forged academic certificate to secure employment.
According to the EACC, investigations revealed that Ms.
Anyoso used a falsified Bachelor of Commerce degree certificate purporting to
have been issued by the University of Nairobi to gain employment at NCWSC.
Through this deception, she reportedly earned salaries
totaling KSh 7.8 million over her period of employment.
Following the completion of investigations, the Commission
forwarded the file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who approved
three charges against the accused.
Ms. Anyoso was processed at the Integrity Centre Police
Station before being arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Ondieki
at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, where she pleaded not guilty to all
charges.
She was released on a cash bail of KSh 80,000 or an alternative
bond of KSh 1 million with one surety of a similar amount.
The case will be mentioned on October 23rd, 2025.
In a statement, the EACC reaffirmed its commitment to combating fraud and safeguarding integrity within the public service, warning that those who gain from forged credentials will continue to face legal consequences.
