29, 2025 - Kenya Railways has issued a warning to the public over
fraudulent social media pages impersonating its official platforms to scam
passengers seeking train bookings.
In a statement, Kenya Railway revealed that fake accounts
using the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) name and branding have been misleading
users into making payments for non-existent services.
“These pages - SGR-Madaraka Express Booking Solutions and
SGR Online Booking Service - are operated by fraudsters,” the statement read.
“We urge the public to use only our official contacts when
seeking assistance.”
The alert comes amid the rollout of the Mombasa Commuter
Rail Service, which was launched on September 17th.
Kenya Railways announced an affordable fare of Ksh50 per
trip for the new service, operating between Mombasa Terminus, Miritini and
Mombasa Railway Station.
Trains from Mombasa Terminus to Mombasa Station depart at
4:10 am, 7:20 am, 2:25 pm, 6:25 pm, and 9:10 pm. 
Return trips from Mombasa Station are scheduled at 6:25 am,
12:35 pm, 5:30 pm, 7:30 pm, and 7:20 pm.
Passengers arriving from Nairobi via the Madaraka Express at
4:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 8:30 pm can connect to the CBD using link trains
departing Mombasa Terminus at 4:10 am, 2:25 pm, and 9:00 pm.
Similarly, travelers departing Mombasa at 8:00 am, 3:00 pm,
and 10:00 pm can access link trains from Mombasa Railway Station at 6:25 am,
12:35 pm, and 7:20 pm.
