Monday, September 29, 2025 - A viral video showing a young Gen Z lady passionately confronting relatives during her mother’s burial has sparked widespread debate online, and caught the attention of celebrated radio host, Alex Mwakideu.
In the emotionally charged clip, the woman addresses the
crowd with raw honesty, calling out family members for their absence during her
mother’s illness and accusing them of hypocrisy for showing up only after her
passing.
Her boldness, vulnerability and refusal to conform to
traditional expectations struck a chord with many viewers, especially younger
generations.
Speaking on the matter, Mwakideu
applauded the young woman’s courage.
“Gen Z hawana hiyo time ya kimya.
Atakupiga reality tu,” he said, noting that this isn’t the first time a
young person has spoken out at a funeral.
He believes it’s a growing trend, and a
necessary one.
“This girl gave people reality, not
shame. It’s good that Gen Z are calling things out. They’re helping us
reflect,” he added.
He emphasized the importance of being present for loved ones
- not just in death, but in life.
“Let’s not wait for funerals to show love. If you weren’t
there when they needed you, don’t pretend now,” he added.
The video has ignited conversations around generational
differences and emotional expression.
As Mwakideu put it, “Sometimes, the most powerful eulogy is
the truth.”
