Monday, July 21, 2025 - President William Ruto’s former Senior Economic Adviser, Moses Kuria, has broken his silence following claims by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that he is funding and working with ex-Mungiki leader, Maina Njenga.
In a strongly worded social media post, Kuria defended
himself against the allegations, clarifying that a widely circulated photo of
him with Njenga was taken during a chance meeting in 2023.
“On June 11, 2023, I was leaving an interview at Kameme FM
when I bumped into Maina Njenga at the reception. He asked for a photo,” Kuria
explained.
He accused Gachagua of distorting facts and shifting
political narratives.
“That is the photo one mad man, Rigathi Gachagua, is now
claiming was taken last week. Relax, my friend.”
“Two years ago, you called our youths Mungiki, now you call
them Itungati.”
“You are a pathetic liar and hypocrite,” Kuria fired.
The photo, showing Kuria and Njenga smiling and raising
their hands in unity, has ignited speculation of an alliance - claims Kuria
denies.
While speaking in the U.S on July 19th, Gachagua
warned Mt. Kenya residents about politicians like Kuria, alleging they are
being used to divide the region politically.
In response, Kuria sarcastically claimed he learned his
"scheming ways" from Gachagua and alleged he was present when
Gachagua paid individuals to raid Uhuru Kenyatta’s Northlands farm.
