Jubilee Party denounces RAILA’s claim that UHURU brokered RUTO-RAILA broad-based Government - “Don’t blame us for joining the oppressor”

Monday, July 21, 2025 - The Jubilee Party has firmly distanced itself and former President Uhuru Kenyatta from claims by ODM leader, Raila Odinga, that the former President played a role in brokering the political pact between the ODM leader and President William Ruto.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen Radio on Monday morning, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni dismissed Odinga’s remarks, accusing the ODM leader of unfairly dragging Jubilee and Kenyatta into Kenya Kwanza’s internal affairs.

“I’m not saying there’s any truth in those claims, but the bottom line is, there is a serious problem in this country.”

“We do not agree with the narrative that Uhuru initiated the idea of ODM experts joining the Government.”

“That was their own making,” Kioni stated.

“It is not right to cheapen such a significant issue.”

Kioni added that if Odinga had chosen to engage with Ruto, he should own that decision and not shift the blame.

“Do not involve Uhuru Kenyatta or the Jubilee Party in that. Don’t blame us for joining the oppressor,” he said.

He reiterated that Jubilee is focused on rebuilding itself and playing a constructive role in national governance.

Kioni’s remarks follow Raila’s Sunday interview on NTV, where he claimed that Uhuru, while in the U.S, urged him to initiate talks with Ruto during the height of anti-Finance Bill protests in 2024.
