Monday, July 21, 2025 - Former Chief Justice David Maraga has announced that he has raised over Ksh500, 000 through his campaign website, davidmaraga.com, within just two days of launching the website.
Speaking on Monday, July 21st, Maraga noted that
the response from Kenyans, both locally and in the diaspora, signals strong
public support for his 2027 presidential ambitions.
“We have set up a website, and within two days in Kenya, we
have received more than Ksh500,000.”
“Those in the diaspora have also contributed in dollars.
That tells you that Kenyans want change,” Maraga stated.
On Tuesday, July 16th, the former Chief Justice
disclosed that his campaign will rely heavily on public contributions,
emphasizing his belief in a people-powered movement.
He expressed optimism that Kenyans are ready to take
ownership of the political process by funding a campaign grounded in integrity
and reform.
“We will require a substantial amount of money. We are going
to appeal to Kenyans to contribute to our campaign, and it is going to
succeed,” he said, adding that he plans to personally contribute between Ksh1
million and Ksh2 million.
Maraga encouraged Kenyans to donate as little as Ksh50,
noting that the funds will go towards grassroots mobilization, town hall
forums, digital outreach, and building a national support network.
