Wednesday, June 4, 2025 - Tragedy struck on Sunday evening along the busy Kisumu-Nairobi Road after an ardent Gor Mahia fan fell from a moving vehicle, shortly after attending the Mashemeji Derby at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa-Bay.
The youth fan was hanging onto a moving vehicle as part of a
celebratory convoy following the match.
The accident occurred at Rabuor when the vehicle he was
clinging to hit a bump at high speed, causing him to lose balance and fall.
The victim sustained severe head injuries upon impact and
was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident has raised concerns about fan safety and the risky behavior often witnessed after major football matches in the country.
