RUTO and GACHAGUA call their UDA house to order as they ban 2027 succession politics – Do they know something we don’t?

Friday, January 26, 2024 - President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua continued to call out UDA and Kenya Kwanza leaders engaged in premature 2027succession politics.

Speaking at Buuri market in Timau, when accompanying Ruto in the launching of the Timau Affordable Housing Programme, Gachagua warned UDA leaders discussing 2027 politics and regional supremacy matters, saying he and the President will not entertain anyone who has lost their focus from working for Kenyans to start thinking about the next election.

“Wale ambao wamechaguliwa hasa kwa UDA and Kenya Kwanza to agree that we focus on development.

"Na wachunge matamshi yao, kwasababu engine wakienda kwa TV they get excited. Wanapotea, wanaingia kwa mambo ambayo haina haja,” DP Gachagua said.

He said they will also deal decisively with anyone who tries to bring confusion into the ruling party, or the Presidency. Even if it’s their personal friends.

The Deputy President specifically called out Senator Wamatinga from his home county (Nyeri) as well as Senator Nyutu from Murang'a who in recent days have made utterances that have caused confusion and tried to create a wedge between the President and the Deputy President.

“Nilikua naona seneta wa kwetu Nyeri leo, anaongea matope kwa TV anakua excited akiwa pale kwa TV. Kazi ya seneta ni mambo ya kuoversight kaunti.

"Mambo ya national government na mipango ya national government, mwenye kujua ni huyu rais na mimi, na huyo Seneta, ni wa kwetu, angeniuliza ile mipango inandelea kule Nyeri,” he added.

He demanded that all leaders learn to consult before they speak on issues that affect the party or the nation.
