Friday, July 31, 2026 - Transport along Thika Road was briefly disrupted on Friday morning after a man jumped from the Kahawa Wendani footbridge, prompting motorists to slow down as authorities responded to the incident.
The
man's body was covered with a white cloth as police and other emergency
responders secured the scene and prepared for its removal.
Traffic
police later arrived and directed motorists to use a single lane while officers
managed the scene and worked to restore the normal flow of traffic.
It
has since emerged that the deceased was a former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF)
soldier.
Police
are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Reports
circulating online have claimed he had been battling depression.
Below is a video from the scene.
It’s now alleged that the old man who jumped from the Kahawa Wendani footbridge is an ex-KDF soldier. It’s high time the government looked at the welfare of ex-servicemen to make sure they are mentally stable. pic.twitter.com/KLH1alFB8F
