Wednesday, April 22, 2026 - Authorities at the Namanga One Stop Border Post have intercepted a 13-foot python that was being smuggled across the border, concealed inside a box disguised as spare parts.
The reptile was discovered by alert officers during a
routine inspection of a bus traveling from Dar es Salaam to Nairobi.
Upon opening the suspicious package, officials found the
live snake carefully hidden to avoid detection.
The shocking discovery has raised concerns over wildlife
trafficking along the busy border route.
The bus crew has since been taken into custody as
investigations continue to establish the origin of the snake and its intended
destination.
Authorities are also working to determine whether more individuals are involved in the smuggling attempt.
