2026 - A Bungoma-based health
worker is recovering from serious injuries following a brutal attack carried
out by her estranged lover.
Marystells Kong’ani was assaulted by Bashir Biket on
Wednesday night shortly after she returned home.
According to the victim’s niece, the suspect broke into her
aunt’s home around 9PM and began attacking her.
She described a violent scene in which her aunt was
screaming for help as the assailant continued the assault.
“I recognized the man because he had interacted with us
before. He was holding my aunt by the neck, hitting her against the wall with
kicks and blows. I pleaded with him to stop and resolve whatever issue they
had, but he turned on me and told me to go away,” she recounted.
The niece, identified as Sandra, immediately called the
victim’s relatives who responded quickly.
However, the suspect reportedly fled the scene before they
arrived, leaving the victim seriously injured.
Sandra said the suspect had been visiting the home since
January.
The matter was reported to police as investigations continue and a search for the suspect is underway.
