Stolen Samsung S24 phone surrendered to a police station after a thief was captured on camera trying to unlock it and his PHOTOs shared widely online

Thursday, January 15, 2026 - Following numerous online posts regarding a stolen Samsung S24, investigations established that the suspect captured in viral photos trying to unlock the high-end phone resides in Dandora Phase 4, Kifarage area near Gituamba Bridge.

Efforts by police officers to trace and apprehend the suspect were unsuccessful.

As a result, officers opted to contact his father and directed him to present his son together with the stolen mobile phone.

According to undercover police officer Saigon Punisher James, the suspect’s father, an elderly man in his early 70s, reported to Dandora Phase 3 Police Post and surrendered the stolen phone.

He informed the officers that his son had gone into hiding and could not be traced.

He further explained that he had received the phone from an unidentified woman late in the evening, making it difficult for him to give a clear description of her.

The rightful owner of the phone was subsequently contacted and arrived at the police station accompanied by her husband.

The Samsung S24 was officially handed over to her as the hunt for the suspected thief continues.
