Kenyan teacher who had been working in Tanzania for the last 8 years killed in ongoing election protests, family speaks!

Tuesday, November 04, 2025 - A Kenyan teacher who had lived and worked in Tanzania for nearly a decade has reportedly been killed amid the ongoing election-related unrest sweeping parts of the country following President Samia Suluhu’s controversial victory.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 4th, the teacher’s sister confirmed the family last spoke to him on September 22nd, when he called to wish her a happy birthday.

“My brother has been in Tanzania for almost 8 years,” she said.

“We’ve now been informed that his body is at Mwananyamala Hospital Mortuary in Dar es Salaam.”

“He died in Ubungo district, Goba ward.”

She described him as a calm and respectful man who avoided conflict.

“He never argued with adults. Even when we disagreed, he’d remind me I’m older and he couldn’t argue with me.”

Meanwhile, Viral Scout Management, a sports consultancy based in Dar es Salaam, confirmed the deaths of seven young footballers in the same wave of violence.

In a statement issued Monday, November 3rd, the agency named the victims - aged 15 to 22 - and said they were gunned down at their homes in Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, and Mwanza.

“These vibrant players were killed in senseless acts of violence,” the statement read.

“They were the future of Tanzanian football.”

The agency condemned the killings and urged authorities to act swiftly.

“We call for justice and better protection for our youth. Rest in peace, our stars. Your legacy lives on.”
