Flying Coffin! Police chopper makes a hard landing in Chesongoch, Marakwet East, during rescue mission (VIDEO)

Monday, November 3, 2025 - A police helicopter conducting rescue operations in Chesongoch, Marakwet East, was forced to make an emergency hard landing after experiencing a sudden lift failure.

The chopper, which was part of an ongoing rescue and humanitarian response mission in the region affected by a landslide, reportedly encountered mechanical difficulties mid-air, prompting the pilot to execute a controlled landing in an open field to avoid casualties.

The aircraft descended rapidly before hitting the ground with a heavy thud, causing panic among nearby residents.

Fortunately, all officers and crew on board escaped unhurt.

This latest incident has reignited public concern over the safety of police aircrafts, many of which are said to be aging, poorly maintained, and mechanically unreliable, with Kenyans on social media branding them “flying coffins.”
