Friday, August 29, 2025 - Police in Kisii South Sub-County have arrested a suspected drug trafficker and seized a large consignment of cannabis sativa following a dramatic highway pursuit.
The operation was mounted after officers from Gesonso Police Station
received a tip-off from members of the public about suspicious movements of a
vehicle along the Migori–Kisumu
Highway.
A roadblock was set up, and officers flagged down a dark grey Toyota Sienta (Reg. No. KCB
752A).
Instead of stopping, the driver defied orders, ramming
through metal spikes in a desperate escape attempt.
A high-speed chase followed before the vehicle was brought
to a halt after its tyres were deflated.
The driver, identified as 43-year-old John Njomo Ndung’u, was arrested while attempting to flee
on foot.
Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered five and a half gunny bags of cannabis
sativa, which were secured as exhibits along with the impounded
vehicle.
The suspect is currently in custody as detectives conclude processing, ahead of his arraignment.
