President RUTO issues plea to Gen Z on protests - “We have no other country to run to if things fall apart here”

Wednesday, June 25, 2025 - President William Ruto has broken his silence on the ongoing Gen Z-led protests, urging demonstrators to remain peaceful and avoid destruction of property.

Speaking on Wednesday afternoon during the burial of Mzee Mung’aro Senior - father of Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro - in Kilifi County, the President emphasized the importance of lawful demonstrations to preserve national stability.

“We must ensure that protests are peaceful. Destroying property will not solve our problems.”

“We have no other country to run to if things fall apart here,” Ruto said, in his first public remarks since the protests began.

The Head of State reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering on its development agenda, particularly in the housing, health, and agriculture sectors.

Ruto also called for unity, urging political leaders - especially from the opposition - to support efforts toward national cohesion.

His remarks come as protests continue to grip the country, with demonstrators demanding accountability, youth inclusion, and an end to police brutality.
