Wednesday, July 29, 2026 - Officers from Waitaluk Police Station, in collaboration with National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), have seized 1,900 litres of illicit alcohol during a multi-agency operation targeting the production, distribution, and consumption of illegal brews in Trans Nzoia County.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the
operation was conducted on Wednesday at a homestead suspected of operating an
illegal distillery.
During the raid, officers recovered 300 litres of chang'aa
and 1,600 litres of kangara, as well as equipment believed to have been used in
the manufacture of the illicit brews.
One suspect was arrested during the operation and is
currently in police custody awaiting arraignment in court.
The seized exhibits have been secured to support ongoing
investigations, while efforts to trace additional suspects linked to the
illegal alcohol trade are continuing.
The National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on the production and distribution of illicit alcohol, noting that the trade poses serious health, security, and socio-economic risks to communities.
