Wednesday, June 24, 2026 - Dramatic scenes were witnessed in Kiambu County after a family conducted the burial of a deceased relative in less than 15 minutes amid a bitter land dispute.
According to reports, the family of Julius Mbogo hurriedly
lowered his casket into the grave and filled it shortly afterward in an
apparent attempt to beat an anticipated court injunction that could have
stopped the burial.
The unusual burial bypassed traditional rites and church
services that are commonly observed during funeral ceremonies, leaving mourners
shocked.
Tension erupted at the burial site as the deceased's wife
and two cousins protested the move.
In dramatic scenes, they sat inside the grave in a desperate
attempt to stop the hurried burial, arguing that they should be allowed to give
their loved one a decent send-off.
Family members who spoke to the media said the ancestral
land where the burial was being conducted has been the subject of a dispute for
years, with disagreements over ownership and inheritance fueling divisions
among relatives.
They called on the court to intervene and help resolve the
matter amicably to prevent further conflict within the family.
