Wednesday, April 01, 2026 - President William Ruto has once again hosted controversial Zimbabwean businessman, Wicknell Chivayo, at State House, Nairobi, sparking fresh conversations online.

In a post shared on Wednesday, April 1st, Chivayo revealed that he met Ruto at his official residence, where they discussed several matters.

He described the Kenyan Head of State as “a leader of exceptional character and vision” and disclosed that Ruto imparted to him nuggets of wisdom on servant leadership.

“The President shared with me principles rooted in extending a helping hand to those in need,” Chivayo wrote.

The shady businessman praised Ruto’s passion for building Kenya and Africa into a better place, lauding his efforts to consolidate Kenya’s position as a global leader in renewable energy through geothermal projects in Menengai and Olkaria.

He added that, as a young entrepreneur, he drew inspiration from Ruto’s drive towards national development.

“President Ruto is without doubt a leader par excellence, whose leadership is grounded in integrity and compassion,” he stated.

Chivayo has long been a controversial figure.

In 2024, Chivayo was associated with a reported US$40 million tender awarded by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), a deal that drew allegations of corruption and money laundering.

Beyond Zimbabwe, Chivayo has also drawn scrutiny for alleged corruption and his relationships with Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni and Tanzania’s Samia Suluhu.

Adding to the intrigue, reports indicate that he is among several controversial foreigners holding Kenyan passports.

His latest appearance at State House has reignited debate, with netizens questioning the optics of Ruto’s association with an individual whose reputation continues to divide opinion across the region.
