Public Service CS RUKU reveals why KINDIKI skipped President RUTO’s function in Baringo - Pray for the DP!

Monday, December 22, 2025 - Deputy President Kithure Kindiki was conspicuously absent from the annual Kimalel Goat Auction in Baringo on Monday, December 22nd, sparking speculation among attendees and online observers.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary, Geoffrey Ruku, clarified the situation, revealing that the DP was unwell and had asked him to represent him at the high-profile event.

Speaking before President William Ruto and other senior leaders, Ruku explained:

“Dear Your Excellency, President, I have been sent by your deputy, who is sick.”

“He told me that when I come here in Baringo for the goat auction, I should send his greetings.”

Ruku added that Kindiki had also sent money to purchase goats for Christmas, noting: “So if you notice the absence of the Deputy President, just know I am here on his behalf.”

The clarification came after Kindiki’s absence fueled speculation online, with Ruku’s statement putting an end to any rumors.

However, no further details were provided about the DP’s condition.

Kindiki’s last public appearance was on December 19th, when he presided over the passing out of 147 cadet officers and 103 junior officers at the Kenya Wildlife Service Law Enforcement Academy in Manyani, Taita Taveta County.

A day earlier, he accompanied President Ruto to open the Affordable Housing Project in Mukuru Kwa Njenga and the New Mukuru Level 4 Hospital.

President Ruto attended the Baringo auction alongside Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, National Assembly Majority Leader, Kimani Ichung’wah, and Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruyiot.

The Kimalel Goat Auction remains a major annual event connecting pastoralists with buyers and showcasing Government support for livestock farmers.
