Tuesday, October 14, 2025 - In a dramatic turn, the Kenya African National Union (KANU) Youth Congress has publicly rejected the recent alliance between President William Ruto and KANU Chairman, Gideon Moi, dismissing it as a betrayal of party values.
In a statement released on Tuesday, October 14th,
the youth wing declared it “fully dissociates” from the partnership, citing
misalignment with the current administration’s record on governance, human
rights and the rule of law.
“Our values are rooted in accountability, transparency, and
institutional independence,” the statement read.
“No coalition can rescue a regime that undermines
constitutional principles.”
The youth condemned enforced disappearances, corruption, and
systemic failures, urging the Government to focus on urgent issues like
healthcare, education reform and youth employment.
“Solely consolidating the political class under the umbrella
of ‘broad-based government’ is not only a fallacy but also the kicks of a dying
horse,” one member declared.
The rejection comes just days after President Ruto announced
KANU’s entry into his unity government, revealing that he had personally
reached out to Moi to foster reconciliation.
Moi also withdrew from the upcoming Baringo Senate
by-election in favor of a UDA candidate.
KANU youth insist that only a functioning system - not
political deals - can deliver meaningful change.
