Double tragedy as man hacks girlfriend with a machete before getting cornered by irate mob and lynched in Machakos

Tuesday, October 28, 2025 - A horrific scene unfolded in Mwanyani village near Machakos town, on Monday afternoon, October 27th, 2025, when a man fatally attacked his girlfriend before being lynched by an enraged crowd.

According to Machakos DCIO Nzioka Singi, the victim, identified as Susan Nyaboke, was on her way to work when her boyfriend—armed with machetes - ambushed her near a busy market.

She was struck on the neck and died instantly.

“We received a call at around 1:30 PM reporting a murder. On arrival, we found Susan lying lifeless in a pool of blood,” Singi confirmed.

The brutal act sparked immediate outrage among witnesses, who quickly cornered the suspect.

The mob beat him to death and set his body on fire before police could intervene.

Authorities have yet to confirm his identity, though he is suspected to be a student from a nearby college.

Singi revealed that the couple had a child together and that the attack may have stemmed from a relationship dispute.

Community members condemned the violence, urging men to seek peaceful resolutions in troubled relationships.

“If your marriage or relationship isn’t working, walk away. Don’t take someone’s life,” said Allan Musembi, Chair of the Machakos Sub-County Bodaboda Association.

Both bodies were taken to Machakos Level Five Hospital.

Meanwhile, authorities have warned the public against mob justice, urging citizens to report suspects to law enforcement instead of resorting to violence.
