DCI obtains crucial leads in the investigation into the cold-blooded murder of city lawyer, KYALO MBOBU



Tuesday, September 16, 2025 - Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have made significant progress in the probe into the brutal killing of Nairobi-based lawyer, Kyalo Mbobu, who was shot dead on September 8th along Magadi Road.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed during a televised interview that the investigation is in advanced stages, with several individuals now under scrutiny.

Kanja revealed that although three suspects were initially arrested, they were later released after being cleared by investigators.

However, he emphasized that detectives are pursuing “very resourceful leads” and remain committed to apprehending those responsible.

DCI Director Mohamed Amin echoed the IG’s sentiments, stating that a specialized homicide team is actively working on the case.

He urged the public to be patient and cooperate with authorities, noting that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness.

Sources close to the investigation disclosed that seven individuals, including family members, staff and close associates, are being questioned.

Also under review is a company director previously involved in a legal dispute with the deceased.

Investigators have retrieved documents from Mbobu’s office and are analyzing communications with at least 15 people he spoke to on the day of the murder.
