Monday, June 23, 2025 - Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has called for justice and accountability following the deaths of two youths in Kasarani, which have shocked the nation.
Speaking after visiting the grieving families on Monday,
June 23rd, Passaris recounted the tragedy.
“This morning, I visited two grieving families - Wanjiku
Muchoki, mother of 18-year-old Abigael Winner Wanjiku, and Pastor Samuel Kungu,
father of Joshua Steven Maina,” she said.
Abigael, aged just 18, was violated, murdered and her body
found with multiple stab wounds.
“The next day, a peaceful protest demanding justice for her
was disrupted by goons.”
“Amid the chaos, police opened fire, fatally shooting
Joshua.”
In a bid to help solve Abigael’s case, Passaris announced a
Ksh100,000 reward for credible leads.
“I am offering a Ksh100,000 reward for any credible
information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.”
“Please report to OCS Mwiki Police Station or DM me
confidentially,” she urged.
“We hope the bullet recovered from Joshua’s body will
identify the officer responsible. They must face the law,” she stated.
Passaris also issued a stern reminder to police officers:
“You are trained to protect, not provoke. To immobilise, not
to kill.”
Her remarks come amid growing concern over police conduct
during protests and calls for urgent reform.
