Monday, January 27, 2020 - National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, had a candid interview with NTV on Sunday evening where he spoke about various issues affecting the nation such as the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and corruption.
In an interview with NTV’s special assignment reporter, Joseph Warungu, Raila also spoke about the closing of betting firms by the Government saying he fears that many clubs in Kenya will collapse due to the closure of Sportpesa.
Raila said Sportpesa was sponsoring many clubs in Kenya and its exit from Kenya’s market was a big blow to the country’s weak sporting industry.
"Sportpesa was helping some of the sports clubs with sponsorship, it is not happening anymore and some of these clubs might just have to fold up," Raila Odinga said.
Some of the most affected teams were the historical giants AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia.
The two lost shirt sponsorship deals after SportPesa closed its Kenyan operations.
