Friday December 6, 2019 - Naivasha MP, Jayne Kihara, seems to have changed her hard line stand and is now ready and willing to work with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Wednesday, Kihara, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto and anti-BBI crusader, said that members of the Jubilee Party are ready to work with the ODM leader for the sake of the country.
The former Prime Minister has been working closely with President Uhuru Kenyatta since their March 2018 truce, to the disapproval of allies of Deputy President William Ruto.
According to her, they have no problem working with Raila provided that it does not affect the relationship that was in place between the President and the DP.
"It's doable joining hands between Uhuru, Ruto and Raila under the leadership of the President.”
“(Kama tunataka kushikana mikono Uhuru, Ruto na Raila tukiongozwa na Rais it's doable)," she said.
The MP also expressed dissatisfaction with the current situation where the entrance of Raila seems to be pushing Ruto out of the equation.
She said that as it appears now, Uhuru seems to be abandoning his deputy, who came long before Raila, which should not be the case.
"We will be undoing the handshake if we will demean the other.”
“Holding hands doesn't mean that we abandon the one we shook hands with initially.”
“(Lakini kama tutadharau mwingine itavunja salamu. Kushikana mikono haimaanishi tutenge yuke tulisalimiana naye mbeleni)," Jayne Kihara noted.
The President has been seen to sideline Ruto in favour of Raila lately, with the DP appearing unwanted within Uhuru's circles.
